The
Pinellas/Pasco Public Defender’s Office is one of
Florida's 20 state-funded offices established in
1963 for the representation of indigent persons
charged with criminal law violations. The office's
practice consists of criminal defense litigation
in cases involving juvenile, traffic, misdemeanor,
felony, capital felony offenses and civil involuntary
commitment matters. Cases are assigned to the office
by the court, that determines indigency and appoints
the Office of the Public Defender. This Office is
committed to meeting the needs of its clients. The
Office staffs approximately 200 employees: attorneys,
legal assistants, investigators, interviewers, information
services specialists, customer service technicians
and administrative staff.
