The Pinellas/Pasco public defender’s office is one of Florida's 20 state-funded offices established in 1963 for the representation of indigent persons charged with criminal law violations. The office's practice consists of criminal defense litigation in cases involving juvenile, traffic, misdemeanor, felony and capital felony offenses and civil involuntary commitment matters. Cases are assigned to the public defender by the court, which determines indigency based upon a sworn financial affidavit. This office is committed to meeting the needs of its clients.
